From the episode, Let This Be Your Last Battlefield. Director Jud Taylor walks into the shot after just ending the take.

Another clip from LTBYLB, with Frank Gorshin and Lou Antonio.

The slate has Joe Pevney listed as the director, but Ralph Senensky directed the episode Metamorphosis.

To the left of the slate you can barely see the shuttlecraft in the background. With the limitations of the size of a soundstage the illusion of depth is enhanced by using an extremely wide angle lens causing the images in the background to appear further than they actually are. Series television at the time of Star Trek was shot mostly with Mitchell cameras and Baltar camera lens. The focal lengths of the Baltar lens were not wide enough to accomplish the desired effect, so an ARRI 2 camera was used which could accommodate a wider range of lens. A 9mm lens was used for this scene.

Doohan looking at his script.

From City on the Edge of Forever forced perspective is used to give the illusion of depth. The ruins on the horizon are probably no more than 4 feet (1.2192 meters) across. Mouse over the donut hole to see a larger image of the ruins. Also note the edge of the studio wall in the upper left hand corner.

From Spock's Brain, technicians adjust Nimoy's jumpsuit while the rest of the actors relax. Doohan appears to be excavating his proboscis.

From the The Changeling.
